She gets the story… no matter the danger! That is the tag line from the movie, “The Adventures of Paula Peril”. This movies that is based on the comic of the same name and brings Paula to life right before our eyes.
The film follows glamorous and determined reporter Paula “Peril” Perillo (played flawlessly by Valerie Perez) of the Daily Gazette. After she gets a tip from a mysterious informant, she becomes the target of brutal thugs who want her silenced. Meanwhile Paula’s rival reporter attempts to steal the headline, so her friends frantically review past adventures, looking for clues to save her– before it’s too late!
The Adventures of Paula Peril is a low budget movie serial from Atlantis Studios. In this movie they have taken the episodes and edited them together with brand new footage to make one seamless and exciting adventure. I really love the comic book style transitions from scenes.
The acting isn't spectacular, but it's a passable B-Movie acting! The film has a kind of quirkiness that seems to work! The adventures of Paula Peril belongs along side The Shadow and Doc Savage in pulp magazines of the 50s. Her adventures would have had people on the edge of their seats in that generation.
As far as the DVD goes the film transfer looks really good on DVD and would make a good addition to any comic book film fans collection.
So if you love films about strong female characters, check out Paula Peril. Head over to MVDShop.com and pick this one up today!
