Children Shouldn't Play with Dead things (1972) { VCI Entertainment UltraHD Review}

Bob Clark is an American director that have brought the world two cult classics. In 1981's Porky's, the cult Christmas horror film 1974's Black Christmas and the holiday classic from 1983 The Christmas Story. But a couple years before he directed the Christmas slasher flick he directed a unique horror comedy "Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things."

Now for the 50th anniversary of the release of this film VCI Entertainment, which have released this film before, are upping the game and releasing a deluxe 4K edition of this film. This is going to have physical media fans drooling!

A Theatre Troupe led by the director Alan (Alan Ormsby) travel to an island graveyard. Using a book filled of magic spells he conducts a séance all in hopes of raising the dead. Little could they realize that they would be overrun by the walking dead. The troupe takes refuge in an abandoned house, but can they survive the night or will the zombies get their pound of flesh?! You'll have to see the film to find out!

Children Shouldn't play with dead things is one of the first films to try to capitalize on the success of George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead craze. And while it doesn't live up to Romero's horror classic, this film shouldn't be dismissed. It has a charm all it's own and is a great little film to watch when you are looking for something completely different.

As a side note this film is rated PG, as there was no PG-13 in 1972. With the subject matter included of violence, occult rituals and religious profanity, it probably should be rated at least a PG-13. It is very much so an adult horror film, in my humble opinion.

Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things is released in this new 3 disc 4K set. One Ultra HD disc and 2 Blu-rays. The film is presented in 4K UHD courtesy of VCI Entertainment with a 2160p transfer in 1.85:1. The audio track is a LPCM 2.0 Mono track. There is also English subtitles fir the deaf and hard of hearing. The film looks and sounds tremendous.

Now a tremendous looking 4K version of this film is not all that is included here. VCI Entertainment for the 50th anniversary really added some amazing bonuses to this release. Take a look at what us included.

And the likelihood any of us will see the next 50the anniversary (being the 100th) is slim. So let's celebrate big! While the film may not be an award winner, the bonus features make this release a must own for horror movie fans.
