Wild Things (1998) {Arrow Video Blu-ray / 4K Ultra HD Review}

Reviewed By Jason Lockard

When you think of film noir most people think of the gritty black and white classics from the 40s and 50s. But in 1998 director John McNaughton brought us a gritty full color film noir entitled Wild Things featuring a cast of future stars.

Wild Things has a cult following and Arrow Video is known for releasing deluxe edition Blu-rays of cult classics. So now it is time for Wild Things to shine on both Blu-ray and for fans of Ultra HD on 4K!

A teen debutante Kelly (Denise Richards) tries and fails to attract the attention of her guidance counselor, Sam (Matt Dillon). Enraged at the outrage she accuses him of rape, this results in his arrest. Sam appeals to Ken (Bill Murray), a less than stellar personal-injury lawyer. Suddenly a second victim, Suzie (Neve Campbell), comes forward. Soon Detective Duquette (Kevin Bacon) realizes that this case is far from what it seems.

This film either falls between the categories of you love it or hate it! It is an extremely adult film featuring strong sexual content and pretty severe profanity. Now me I wasn't a fan of this film. The film came off a bit sleazy and trashy, but I can understand were some people would find it an entertaining experience. And the cast is one amazing one featuring Neve Campbell (Party of Five), Matt Dillion (The Outsiders), Denise Richards (The World is not enough), Kevin Bacon (Tremors), Bill Murray (Ghostbusters), Theresa Russell (Black Widow) and even legend Robert Wagner (Hart To Hart).

Wild Things has been newly restored in 4K in both the
 Original Theatrical Version and the Unrated Edition from the original camera negatives by Sony Pictures Entertainment. There are two audio options the original uncompressed stereo audio and DTS-HD MA 5.1 surround audio. I must say this new restoration looks and sounds amazing! The colors are vibrant and the sound is crystal clear. There is no signs of damage to the print whatsoever.

But Arrow Video made sure to make their deluxe Blu-ray filled with bonus feature. Take a look at what is included in this release.
