Well, Lucy and Desi felt there was value in their shows, so they negotiated a deal that they would own the shows after the airing of the episodes. The reruns of I Love Lucy would bring new generations of audiences. And now it still lives on in the streaming world on Paramount+ and even streaming free on Pluto TV.
I Love Lucy debuted in 1951, so this year (2026) is the 75th Anniversary of this classic sitcom. So, for the 75th anniversary of this classic sitcom's debut CBS and Paramount Home Entertainment are releasing the complete TV series of I Love Lucy on DVD!
Synopsis: In October 1951, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz debuted the first episode of what was to become one of the best-loved and most watched TV shows of all time. Zany redhead Lucy and her Cuban bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo, along with their neighbors and comic foils Ethel and Fred Mertz (Vivian Vance and William Frawley), got into the most hilarious predicaments ever imaginable. Overflowing with notable guest stars and escapades that never lose their entertainment value, it's no wonder why everyone still loves Lucy.
This huge DVD box includes 33 discs. On these discs are all 194 episodes of the I Love Lucy TV show and the Lucy Desi Comedy Hour. These episodes are presented in their original full-screen format. There are audio options of English Dolby Digital mono track and Spanish mono Dolby Digital tracks for seasons 1-6. There are also subtitles for Seasons 1-6.
I grew up on the reruns of I Love Lucy. I don't know how many times I have watched this series over the years. I Love Lucy has been released on Blu-ray. And watching this DVD set in comparison, you can see that there is a slight upgrade on Blu-ray. But these episodes look pretty impressive on DVD as well.
I Love Lucy has been released on physical media time after time after time. This 75th Anniversary edition seems to be the 2012 release just re-released with a new disc case, DVD insert, and gold foil slip cover. There are no new bonus features. If there had been some new bonus features included in this set, it would make it much more of a must-own.
The DVD case features discs stacked on top of one another in the disc trays. That is not my favorite type of packaging. This kind of packaging makes it very difficult to get the disc you want. Plus, there is no booklet to let you know what the bonus features are and where to find them.
I Love Lucy is simply one of the greatest sitcoms in television history. Now you can stream it, but where is the fun in that? There is nothing like owning it. If you don't already own the previous DVD edition or the Blu-ray, you may want to add this release to your home video library. Head over to Amazon and order your copy today.
Out of 4 TV Sets (4 being the best) The 75th Anniversary DVD set of The Complete Series of I Love Lucy receives.....
