It All Came True (1940) Blu-ray Review | A Classic Gangster Musical on Blu-ray

If you were to list the best Hollywood male actors of all time on most people's list, Humphrey Bogart would be on that list. He was in so many classic films, yet only won an Oscar for one The African Queen.

Warner Archive Collection have been restoring and releasing many Bogart films on Blu-ray. Over the last few years we have seen "Angels with Dirty Faces", Chain Lightning, They Drive by Night, and Conflict. The latest Bogart movie to receive the Blu-ray treatment is 1940's It All Came True.

Synopsis: Killer Chips Maguire (Humphrey Bogart) is cooling his heels where the cops will never find him: a shabby boarding house run by two dear old ladies who cluck over Chips like devoted mother hens. When Chips finds out the biddies owe back taxes, he hits on a can't-miss scheme. He talks his fellow boarders, zanies all, into turning the house into a Gay '90s-themed nightclub!

It All Came True is not your typical Humphrey Bogart gangster flick. It's a crime drama but with a hint of comedy and a good chunk of music. This is a highly underrated little film. Ann Sheridan and Humphrey Bogart really shine in this picture. But the supporting cast hits all the right notes, making this a cinematic orchestra of entertainment.

Warner Archive Collection has transferred It All Came True to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 1.37:1 aspect ratio. The Audio track is an English DTS-HD MA 2.0 Mono. There is also English Subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

This Warner Archive 4k restoration brings new life to this 1940 film. The black and white picture is crisp and clean and there is no signs of scratches, dirt, or debris on this print. The audio is clear with no hiss or pops. The film is so clean you would think it was produced in 2026. In addition to a wonderful restoration, check out the bonus features included on this disc.

Special features:
* Classic WB Cartoons
 - Circus Today (1940) A barker guides us through a sideshow, a menagerie, and on to the big top, for a series of typical Avery gags.
 - The Sour Puss (1940) Porky decides to go fishing the next day and tells his cat. While they are fishing, the cat gets into a battle with a flying fish.
* Original Theatrical Trailer

Two classic cartoons, and the trailer is nice. But I must be honest, it feels a bit on the skimpy side. I would have liked to see an audio commentary, some interviews, a retrospective, or some radio programs. That would have made this release a whole lot better.
