Lucifer: The Complete Series Blu-ray Review – A Devilishly Good TV Collection

Warner Bros. owns the DC Comics Universe. Owning the rights to some of the biggest superheroes in comics history opens the door to produce adventures with these characters. Lately we have seen a plethora of movies and TV series.

Warner Bros. has been releasing these superhero series on Blu-ray and 4K. Such series as Titans, Pennyworth, The Penguin, and The Sandman, just to name a few.

These Blu-ray releases have been wonderful additions to home video libraries. Well now here is a Blu-ray release I didn't expect to see. The Complete series of Lucifer.

Synopsis: Bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, Lucifer Morningstar abandoned his throne and retired to the city of Angels, where he has teamed up with LAPD detective Chloe Decker to take down criminals. Charming, charismatic, and devilishly handsome, Lucifer has a way of manipulating people into confessing their deepest, darkest secrets, which helps Detective Decker deliver justice!

The comic Lucifer was created by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, and Mike Dringenberg. But in this series, bad Lucifer Moningstar is not like the comics. But that is not a bad thing. I enjoyed the dynamic of good cop, bad cop in this series. There is also quite a good chemistry between Tom Ellis and Lauren German. The special effects are top-notch.

This series for 6 seasons on two networks. First on Fox and then on Netflix. There was a total of 93 episodes. The series just missed 100. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has released this series on Blu-ray and has spread all 93 episodes over 22 discs.

These episodes have been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and are presented in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is an English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. Finally, there is the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The quality of these transfers is extremely impressive. The colors are bright and vibrant. The flesh tones are correct. The picture is crisp and clean. And the audio is clear. There is no digital artifacts or audio anomalies found on these Blu-ray discs.

Now, in addition to 93 episodes. Warner Brothers add over 3 hours of bonus material in this massive box set. Lucifer 2015, 2016, and 2017 Comic Con Panel, Character Profiles, Featurettes, deleted scenes and gag reels.

While Lucifer comic purists will find this series to be an abomination in comparison to the source material. There is no denying that this series is devilishly fun and entertaining. And with all the bonus features, there is tons more entertainment than just the series.

So, if you like the DC Television Universe, this new Blu-ray of Lucifer should be on your list to add to your home video library. Head over to MovieZyng or Amazon and order your copy of Lucifer today.
