Titans The Complete Series

In this history of DC Comics there are many superhero teams. The most famous is The Justic League, but there is Suicide Squad, Birds of Prey, Legion of Superheroes, Doom Patrol, The Elite, but one of my favorites was always Teen Titans.

Teen Titans consisted of Robin, Cyborg, Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy. I remember loving the Teen Titans Cartoon series. So, when Warner Archive Collection released the complete series of Teen Titans on Blu-ray I was ecstatic.

For years I dreamed of what a live action series of Teen Titans would look like, but never dreamed it would happen. Well, in 2018 Warner Brother and DC Universe joined forces to bring the world a TV Series. Now Warner Brother Home Entertainment are releasing this series on Blu-ray.  

TITANS follows young heroes from across the DC Universe as they come of age and find belonging in a gritty take on the classic Teen Titans franchise. Dick Grayson and Rachel Roth, a special young girl possessed by a strange darkness, get embroiled in a conspiracy that could bring Hell on Earth. Joining them along the way are the hot-headed Starfire and loveable Beast Boy. Together they become a surrogate family and team of heroes.

During the course of these four seasons audiences get to see all of their favorite characters represented. Along with Robin, Raven, Starfire and Beast Boy we see Wonder Girl, Dove, Hawk, Deathstroke, Superboy, Barbara Gordon and Tim Drake. Also, the Titans find themselves traveling from San Francisco to Gotham to Metropolis all in trying to make the world a safer place from evil!

Now Titans is not Teen Titans, not by a longshot. The characters are adults for the most part. And while Starfire in the cartoon series is an innocent wide-eyed hero in this series, she is a take no prisoners assassin. Robin is a detective by day and vigilante by night. It's just strange to see. Not bad, just strange when you are used to the cartoon.

Everyone in this series does a good job in their roles. Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson/Nightwing, Anna Diop as Kory Anders/Starfire, Ryan Potter as Gar Logan/Beast Boy, Joshua Orpin as Connor Kent/Superboy, Jay Lycurgo as Tim Drake. These are just some of the characters found in this series! But the real stand out (in my opinion) in this series was Teagan Croft's portrayal of Rachel Roth/Raven. You really find yourself sympathetic to her plight and rooting for her all through this series!

All 4 seasons and 45 episodes are spread across 10 Blu-ray discs. They are transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p in widescreen format. The audio is a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

These episodes look and sound stunning in HD. But Warner Brothers didn't stop there with a great looking 45 episodes box set. They added over 90 minutes of bonus featurettes. Take a look at those featurettes included.

Make no mistakes about it! This is not Teen Titans. Titans is a dark edgy violent and extremely adult superhero series. One of the best parts of the Teen Titans series was the epic theme song by Japanese duo Puffy AniYumi. Titans has a driving drum theme that is a bit of an homage to the Teen Titans theme. That is very cool!

This box set give you so much superhero entertainment. From the dark adventures of the TV series to the epic featurettes exploring the deeper aspects of the show. I cannot recommend this show enough for adult superhero fans.
