One such actor is Leslie Neilsen. His performances in The Naked Gun TV Series and movies have thrilled and entertained audiences for decades. So, when the announcement came of a reboot of The Naked Gun for a new generation, I was skeptical to say the least. Who could possibly want to try to fill those shoes... enter Liam Neeson.
Now after it's theatrical run Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment have release The Naked Gun movie on Blu-ray. Now fans of this movie or completist can add this reboot to their Naked Gun collection.
Synopsis: Committed to living up to the standard set by his dad for L.A.'s elite police unit, Frank Drebin, Jr. (Liam Neeson) has his biggest challenge when the tech breakthrough known as the P.L.O.T. Device gets stolen-and he has to juggle the schemes of evil billionaire Richard Cane (Danny Huston) and the attentions of sultry crime writer Beth Davenport (Pamela Anderson).
As someone who grew up on watching Leslie Neilsen spoof comedies as a kid, as was so hopeful that this film would score big. The Naked Gun is an entertaining spoof comedy, whose jokes sometime work and other times kind of falls flat.
Liam Neeson to his credit and the credit of the writers didn't try to make their Frank Drebin a carbon copy of Lislie Neilsen's version. Liam play the role straight. so that when something goes wrong it is that funny.
One thing I appreciate is the fact that the producers made Liam "Frank Drebin Jr.". Leslie Neilsen, O.J. Simpson and George Kennedy get tributes in this film. And deservedly so. Major props for that! Another cool thing this film has going for it is the plenteous cameos. We see Weird Al Yankovic, Precilla Presley, Dave Bautista, Busta Rhymes and WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
The Naked Gun has been transferred to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in widescreen format in 2.39:1 aspect ratio. The audio options are for a Dolby Atmos, English 7.1 Dolby TrueHD, Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital and French 5.1 Dolby Digital. There is also the option for subtitles in English, Spanish and French.
The picture transfer is crisp and clean. The audio is clear with no signs of digital artifacts of compression issues. Paramount made sure to put their best for forward on this release. How did they do that? In addition to a good-looking transfer, they added some cool bonus features. Take a look at what is included.

Now is This Naked Gun movie as good as the original? No! Not by a longshot. But is it entertaining yes! And after all that is what you're looking for when you are watching a movie. You want to be entertained.
The Naked Gun was a moderate box office success. It was reported that in August of 2025 there was discussions of a sequel. So, time will tell if we get to see more of Frank Drebin Jr. But for now, we can just relive this crazy adventure of this Naked Gun on Blu-ray!
