The Legend of Zorro (2005) 4k UltraHD Review

Zorro is the debonair swashbuckling character created in 1919 by American pulp writer Johnston McCulley. Zorro was so popular it was never a doubt he would come to the big screen and small screen over the years.

The Great Zorro still remains popular all these years later. Sony Pictures is now releasing an adventure of Zorro on 4K. In fact, it is the Antonio Banderas film The Legend of Zorro!

Having spent the last ten years fighting injustice and cruelty, Alejandro de la Vega (Banderas) is now facing his greatest challenge: his loving wife Elena (Zeta-Jones) has thrown him out of the house! Elena has filed for divorce and found comfort in the arms of Count Armand (Rufus Sewell), a dashing French aristocrat. But Alejandro knows something she doesn't: Armand is the evil mastermind behind a terrorist plot to destroy the United States. And so, with his marriage and country's future at stake, it's up to Zorro to try and save two unions before it's too late.

I really enjoy seeing Antonio Banderas as Zorro. I feel he was born to play the legendary character. Catherine Zeta-Jones is great in this film as well. Now while The Mask of Zorro is the superior film of the two, that should not discount the fun factor that is The Legend of Zorro. It is also very cool that this was made almost as a standalone film. You don't need to see the first film to enjoy this one. Although I recommend seeing the first one as well!

Sony Pictures has transferred The Legend of Zorro to 4K UltraHD in 2160p in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. There are several audio options, a Dolby Atmos-True-HD 7.1 in English, French, Spanish 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. There are also subtitles in English, English SDH, French and Spanish.

Sony has restored this classic in 4K and what a restoration it is. When watching this film in comparison to the Blu-ray releases, there is truly no comparison. It really looks amazing! But a beautiful looking transfer is not all that is included on this disc. There are some really cool bonus features. Take a look at what is included.

* Director and Cinematographer Commentary
* Four behind the scenes featurettes: Stunts, Visual Effects, Armand's Party and Playing with Trains
* Deleted Scenes with Optional Director's Commentary
* Theatrical Trailers

Now in addition to a beautiful looking 4K transfer. And the cool bonus feature, Sony Pictures
 has also added a digital copy of this 4K UltraHD film that you can redeem on VUDU/ Fandango, Movies Anywhere or Youtube. It is so cool to have a digital copy that you can have with you anywhere you go!

Every time I think of Antonio Banderas, I think of Zorro. I really love his take on this classic character. Maybe I am alone on that, but for me it's true. I think is one of the best to play this amazing character. I am so glad to see this film get a 4K release.

So, if you love the swashbuckling films of Zorro as much as I do you need The Legend of Zorro in 4K UltraHD your collection. It looks that amazing! Head over to MovieZyng and order your copy today.
