There are two name synonymous with certain genres. There is Gene Wilder with comedy and Harrison Ford with adventure. Put them together and drop them in the old west and you have 1979's The Frisco Kid.

Now I must admit I have been waiting for years to see The Frisco Kid to receive a Blu-ray release. Warner Archive has come to the rescue and now have given this western comedy classic a Blu-ray is so richly deserves.

The film follows Avram (Gene Wilder) a Polish rabbi is chosen to lead a synagogue in America. On his way to San Francisco he is robbed, beaten and left on a dirt rode. Avram than wanders through the Old West on his way to his new charge. On the way he is nearly burnt at the stake by Indians and almost killed by outlaws. Bandit Tom Lillard (Harrison Ford) hasn’t seen a rabbi before. But he knows when one needs help.

I love the buddy cop movies and TV shows. Now while this isn't a buddy cop movie it is a buddy movie of the old west. It is so much fun. Gene Wilder is comedy gold as always and Harrison Ford is fun to watch in his reaction to Gene Wilder's crazy antics.

The Frisco Kid Warner Archive Bluray still

Warner Archive Collection have transferred The Frisco Kid in 1080p in it's original 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Warner Archive did a tremendous job in this transfer. The picture is crisp and the colors are vibrant. The audio is crystal clear. There are no signs of damage to this print. This western comedy truly looks amazing in HD.

Now included on this Blu-ray as a bonus feature is the theatrical trailer. That is it! I wished we could have gotten an audio commentary or some classic cartoons. That would have made this Blu-ray so much better. But that is a minor complaint. It's still great to see The Frisco Kid on Blu-ray.

Watch The Trailer Below:

It is good to note there is a bit of violence, but a good chunk of adult language in this film so parents should watch this film first before watching it with the family.

If you love Blazing Saddles or Young Frankenstein you have to see The Frisco Kid. To me this transfer is the best way to witness it! So I highly recommend this Blu-ray for fans of Gene Wilder or Harrison Ford. Head over to Amazon and get your copy today.

Out of 4 Film reels (4 being the best) Warner Archive's Blu-ray of The Frisco Kid receives..
