On June 20th 2020 the iconic comedy The Blues Brothers turned 40. Originally just a sketch on SNL. It became so popular people were wanting more. So the movie was announced.

The film follows recently released from prison Jake as he reunites with his brother Elwood. When they find out the orphanage they grew up at is going to close, they feel it is their mission from God to save the orphanage.

John Landis the director of An American Werewolf in London. Was given to keys to the kingdom of creating what became a cult classic.

The screenplay was written by Dan Aykroyd and John Landis. The is simple but very well written. The film features performances by R&B, Soul and Blues legends including; James Brown, Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles and John Lee Hooker.

Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi lead a cast that included, Carrie Fisher, Henry Gibson, Charles Napier and John Candy.

What was dedicated to screen was a action packed, car chase filled fun ride. That at times leaves you breathless.

Watching it again 40 years after it's original release. I found it still holds up.

The film is not for children however there is a good amount of adult language and violence, but for adults The Blues Brothers is a fun little ride.
