Blu-ray Review: Ultraman X

Reviewed By Jason Lockard

Mill Creek Entertainment has been giving Kaiju fans a great source of entertainment with the releases of Ultraman series. These Blu-ray sets include; UltraQ, Ultraman, Ultraseven, The Return of Ultraman, Ultraman Orb, Ultraman Orb Origin Saga and Ultraman Geed.

Now the lastest of the Ultraman releases is Ultraman X. This is the 27th entry of the Ultraman franchise. This series ran from July 14, 2015 to January 5, 2016. Mill Creek Entertainment has released the movie and the series/movie combo on Blu-ray. For this review, we are reviewing the movie Blu-ray.

Ultraman X movie starts off with a reality TV host, a treasure hunter like Indiana Jones named Carlos Kurozaki. He breaks into a mysterious underground pyramid for a television event. While there he removes a gem, thus releasing a diabolical monster called Zaigorg! The evil creature wants the gem, so it summons an army of giant kaiju monsters to get it by any means necessary! Who can save the world from this evil army's rampage?  The World's only hope is Ultraman X, Ultraman Tiga, and the original Ultraman! What follows is an epic battle bar supremacy.

This is the Ultraman for this generation. Ultraman X also feels a bit more like a kids movie than the other Ultraman films and series were. At least in my opinion. By no means does that mean this film is unwatchable for adults. The action and adventure is still Ultra!

The movie runs around 71 minutes and is presented in the widescreen format aspect ratio is 1.78:1 and is in the Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0, but there are English subtitles. Now unlike the other Ultraman movies and series sets there is an option to watch the film with the English dubbing. This is an ultra-cool option for the Blu-ray. It takes me back to the way I used to watch all the original Kaiju films. So Awesome!

The special effects in Ultra X are amazing. It reminds me of the mind-blowing effects of Doctor Strange. Than there is the colors. The colors are so eye catching. T
alk about eye candy! Ultraman fans are going to love this edition of Ultraman X for their collection. It looks and sounds stellar!

Now if a absolutly stunning Blu-ray transfer of Ultraman X the movie wasn't enough to make you want to pick this Blu-ray up. Mill Creek Entertainment also is giving a digital code for Ultraman Orb The origin saga that can be redeemed on the free MovieSPREE app. The app is on Apple and Android. MovieSPREE can be accessed on Computer, tablet, or smartphone. It is also on Roku and FireTV.
So if you want to see the next Ultraman release Ultraman X the movie you can pick up the Blu-ray by going to MillCreekEnt.com and Amazon.com today. There is also a combo release that collects the Movie and Series in one set.
