Mill Creek Entertainment has been making Kaiju fans' dreams come true as they have been releasing all things Ultraman on Blu-ray! About 3 months ago we got The Ultraman Orb series Blu-ray. We had the extreme pleasure to review that series here!
Now it's time to see where it all began with The Ultraman Orb Origin Saga. Let's look at this Blu-ray release from the great folks at Mill Creek Entertainment
Ultraman Orb the Origin Saga takes place before the events of the Ultraman Orb series. It details the early days of hero Gai Kurenai (Hideo Ishiguro) and his arch-enemy, Juggrus Juggler (Takaya Aoyagi), when they were friends and allies fighting together in their first mission against an alien threat.
The Origins Saga is 12 episodes long and is really impressive storytelling! This may be just me but I enjoyed the Origin saga even more than the Orb Series. The action is great the acting is believable and the effects are impressive. It really takes you into the other world of Orb.
Disc One: Shining Star / Clase Relations / The Echo / The Pursuit / Daybreak / War Deity / Vertigo
Disc Two: Vibrations / Reason / Flower Strom / Heat Haze / New World / Ultra Fight Orb (Sequel Mini-series)
The episodes run around 25 minutes each. They are presented in widescreen format aspect ratio in 1.78:1 and in the Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0, but there is English subtitles.
There are seven episodes on the first disc and six on the second disc. This still gives these episodes the very high quality bitrate. The colors are "ultra" amazing and the transfers are so clean the episodes literally pop off the screen. Ultraman fans will be very ecstatic with these Blu-ray transfers.
Now as for the packaging! This two-disc Blu-ray set comes housed in a slim Blu-ray case. Each Blu-ray disc has its own hub in a hard shell Blu-ray case. There is no stacking of discs on this one, which many people hate. There is no booklet with this one. But the slipcover (seen above) has amazing artwork. And the actual Blu-ray case insert has completely different artwork which will have collectors going crazy.
So if you loved the Ultraman Orb series you have to check out the Origin Saga. If you are like me I think your gonna love this one just as much if not more than the Orb series.
