Pagan Warrior (2018)

Reviewed By Jason Lockard

Krampus is a horned, anthropomorphic figure described as "half-goat, half-demon", who, during the Christmas season, punishes children who have misbehaved. We have seen many times recently the character Krampus in films.

Well, writer Shannon Holiday and director Louisa Warren produced a unique tale featuring Vikings and the demonic creature together in one place. Now the film entitled Pagan Warrior makes it's way to DVD thanks to Mill Creek Entertainment.

After a savage gang of Vikings invade a Saxon castle, murdering all in their path and claiming it as their own, one vengeful surviving man uses a coven of witches to summon the demon Krampus to enact revenge.

This film is typical B-horror movie fare. The films story has a good pacing to it, but in my opinion, the story was a bit thin for an hour and 20 minutes. It felt at times that some of the story was just padding to try to make it longer.

Now it seems like I am just bagging this film, but that is not true. There is a lot to like about this feature. The make-up work on Krampus is very good. And the direction of Louisa Warren was excellent. You can tell she has the directing chops to make a great director. But this is far from being a great film. But I do appreciate a new take on the Krampus story as it was getting a bit old.

As for Mill Creek Entertainments DVD release. The film is presented in widescreen format in 2.35:1 aspect ratio and in 2.0 Audio. The film looks great for a low budget feature. The DVD houses only a bonus features of the film trailer. It would have been nice if director Louisa Warren would have provided an audio commentary with some behind the scenes information about the making of the film. But that is a minor complaint.

So if your a fan of cheesy indie horror films you may want to check out Pagan Warrior from Mill Creek Entertainment. Head over to www.MillCreekEnt.com or to Amazon.com today.
