The Shed (2019)

Reviewed By Jason Lockard

People have reveled in vampire films ever since the beginning of film with Nosferatu. We have seen classic Vampires, Vampire Heroes and sadly vampires that sparkle. So there is nothing new that could be told in film that deals with vampire right? Wrong!

The new RLJE distributed film from the producers of the Saw franchise brings us The Shed. Vampire movie fans are going to be shocked at the storyline in this one. It is totally new and unexpected.

Stan (Jay Jay Warren) and Dommer (Cody Kostro) are best friends, but these two are dealing with a problem at school. They are being bullied. To make matters worse for Stan he lives with his abusive grandfather. Both guys dream of the day they will leave the small town behind once and for all! But what the boys don't release is there is something sinister in the backyard shed at Stan’s grandpa’s house.

The Shed is a vampire film with a unique premise. The direction of Frank Sabatella is very well done. But the film isn't without its flaws. There are some continuity issues. And the acting comes off a little 'hammy' at times. But if you can get past those issues it's kind of a fun little horror movie.

Now for the DVD release. The film is presented in its original widescreen format in 2.40:1 aspect ratio. The audio is in Dolby Digital 5.1. There is also an option for subtitles in English, Spanish and French. The picture transfer looks and sounds good. Just as could be expected for a 2019 produced film.

As for DVD bonus features, there are none what-so-ever. That is a bit of a downer. I enjoy releases that give you behind the scenes features, interviews ect. That would have been really cool. There is DVD cover insert that has reversible artwork. That is a nice bonus. I just wish there would have been more DVD features.

So if you're a fan of vampire films and you're looking for something a little different, you may want to give The Shed a try. Head over to Amazon.com and get your copy today.
