Joe Bullet {DVD Review}

Reviewed by: Jason S. Lockard

Film detective has been releasing classic films and hard to find films on Blu-ray and DVD for a while now! The latest is the 1973 banned by the apartheid government, the South African-produced, action film Joe Bullet.

When local soccer team The Eagles fall prey to a series of onslaughts from a mysterious gangster only a week before the championship final, the team turns to one man that can help save their chances at victory - Joe Bullet (Ken Gampu). Joe battles many threats with only his martial arts expertise to rely on!

The film has been digitally restored through the Gravel Road African Film Legacy (GRAFL) Initiative by Waterfront Film Studios. You can not truly appreciate the restoration of this film to you see the bonus side by side restoration. It is mind-blowing how amazing of a job they did!

In addition to the restoration demo on the Joe Bullet DVD you also get a trailer and an audio commentary track by Tonie van der Merwe, the film’s writer and producer, and Benjamin Cowley of Gravel Road Entertainment Group. This is truly eye-opening to hear why the film was banned and many other things about this film!

In the end, Joe bullet is not a Top 10 film it is by all accounts a B-film. But Joe Bullet takes you on a fun little ride. And I can't emphasize this enough the restoration makes watching this film so much more enjoyable!

So if you're a fan of B action films from the 70s. You definitely have to get a copy of Joe Bullet from Film Detective! You can pick up a copy today at Amazon.com.
