Dick Cavett Show: Baseball's Greatest Hits (Pitchers)

Reviewed By Jason Lockard

At the time of this review we are in full swing of baseball season! For a long time it was considered America's National Pastime! For some it probably still is. But I think football has taken over the nations attention!

Dick Cavett interviewed many baseball greats over his career as a host. Smore Entertainment has been releasing some of the best interviews with Dick Cavett it is now time for another round of interviews this time focusing on the Hall of Famers in Baseball history!

Dick Cavett had a very unique sense of humor. His monologues are informal and you can tell he has a lot of fun with them The same goes for his interviews. Dick is an informal interviewer. And I love his interview style.

As for this collection of interviews on DVD There is some great baseball legends along with other legends in other fields as well. Let's take a look at what is included in this DVD set.

Disc One:

* May 9, 1970: Paul Simon, Whitey Ford, Mickey Mantle, Marcel Marceau

* May 19, 1970: Rose Kennedy, Dr. Harry Gordon, Kole & Param, Dizzy Dean, Bob Thomas

Disc Two:

* August 6, 1970: Denny McLain, Commander Lloyd Bucher, Genya Ravan, Al Capp,

* February 11, 1971: Satchel Paige, Lillian Gish, Jean-Pierre Ramphal & Julius Baker, Salvador Dali

Disc Three:

* August 16, 1971: Vida Blue, Bob Feller, Milt Komen, Robert Altman

* April, 13, 1991: Tommy John

Now while the title of this collection is the Baseball Hits, the interviews with these legends are very short. That is a little disappointing. But th
ere is plenty of additional great interviews with songwriters, actors, performers and more. These episodes truly have something for viewer.

This 3 disc DVD
set presents two full length episodes on each disc six in total. They are presented in the original full screen format. The audio and video quality of the episodes look really good for the age of the episodes. There is some very very minor flaws in the picture. These episodes are a really good snapshot into the past. I found myself riveted to conversations.

So If you love baseball. If you enjoy Dick Cavett or interviews this one collection is for you. I highly recommend this one! Head over to MVDshop.com and pick up your copy today.
