Guard Dog

Trying to find a good film for the young ones that doesn't talk down to them can be hard to find. Well, it just got a whole lot easier with the film Guard Dog. Now the good folks at Mill Creek Entertainment has released this Dove Approved film on DVD.

The film follows a nine year-old boy named Chance. After a tragedy in his life is forced to live with his Grandparents. Now trying to deal with the pain he is lying, cheating, stealing, and flunking out of school. Then, one night, a wonderful, magical sheepdog appears and promises to make his dreams come true, if he can follow “The Rules.”

Now with the help of his talking invisible dog, Chance begins to changed his life and the lives of many of the students at his school.  You would think everyone would be happy with a more peaceful and loving school yet some of the parents are not happy with the "Imaginary" dog and try to put and end to this figment of Chance's imagination.

The film was written and directed by Rory Johnston. This was a very well written and shot film. Oscar Limon-Zarzosa was really good as the lead character Chance. The cast as a whole were very believable, which is what you want in a film. Look for a very special appearance from master magician Lance Burton.

The film is great for children, though parents may become a little bored with it. It is good to note however there are some adult themes of death and separation, that could be hard for young children to except. But it is a very good instrument in teaching kids to treat others they way they want to be treated. And after all that is a way to change our world for the better.

The film is presented in 1.78:1 Anamorphic Widescreen format it looks and sounded amazing on our big screen at the house. As for bonus features this DVD includes a movie trailer and a 14 minute behind the scenes featurette. This featurette was an eye opening feature revealing how this story and film came to be.

So for parents who want a good faith based film for their children. I can not recommend this enough. Head over to www.MillCreekEnt.com for more details on this release and to pick up your copy from your favorite online DVD provider.
