Reviewed By: Jason LockardWhen I was growing up Saved by the Bell was everyone's favorite show! The antics of the kids of Bayside High was just awesome! The success of Saved by the Bell caused the producers to make another show about a bunch of teenagers thus California Dreams was born.
So September 1992 we first caught the glimpse of a group of teens who form a rock band. The series dealt with the teens everyday trials and shenanigans of trying to be rock stars while going to high school. The series started out with Matt and Jenny Garrison, Tony Wicks, Tiffiani Smith and their manager Sly Winkle. The show would evolve to bring in new characters during it's 5 seasons, including Jake Summers, Sam Woo, Mark Winkle and Lorena Costa.
A few years ago Mill Creek Entertainment released the Best of Collection of California Dreams. Let's take a look at the episodes included in this DVD.

1. The First Gig Matt and Jenny's dad plans his family dream vacation to begin on the same day as the band's first gig. ***
2. Double Date The Dreams schedule two gigs for the same night and have to find a way to play at both of them. ***
3. High Plains Dreamer Tony passes out when he is threatened by his date's former steady boyfriend and dreams he's in the old west. ****
4. Jake's Song Matt has writer's block, so the school's new tough guy tries to help. ***
5. Surfboards and Cycles Jake and Tiffani fall for each other even though the others think it's a bad idea for both. ***
6. Indecent Promposal
Jake doesn't want to go to the prom, much to Tiffani's dismay. So a former hospital patient asks if he can take Tiffani instead. **
7. The Unforgiven After Matt's family moves the band needs a new lead singer. Sly suggests his cousin Mark, even though Mark hates Sly. ***
8. Blind Dates Sly meets a girl online, bit when he meets her in person she's not what he expected at all. ***
9. Junior Achievement The gang must try to run a business for class. They try to make a fortune on Sam's Grandmas cold remedy. ****
10. Tiffani's Gold Tiffani takes steroids in hopes of making the volleyball team. ***
The stories are fun and the music is awesome, even after all these years. All 10 episodes are housed on one DVD. You would DC think so many episodes on one disc that the quality would suffer but the audio and video is great. This is a very cool little collection! Showing some of the best episodes of the series!
I loved this best of collection! I hope that someday Mill Creek Entertainment gets the rights to the whole series and can release the entire series! I would be totally in for that release and I am sure others would as well!
