True life crime dramas, I love them! Getting a glimpse into the minds of what makes people do some of the crazy things that they do. What makes a normal person into a killer? What causes them to snap?
On August 10th, 2018 in limited theaters came one such film entitled "Making a Killing". Now it's getting a home video release from Cleopatra Entertainment and MVD Visual.
The film follows two brothers Vincent and Arthur Herring. Arthur is the mayor, priest and mortician in the small town of Cardinal. They are well-respected pillars in the community. Earlier on when their friend Lloyd Mickey, a mortician and convicted pedophile was sentenced to spend time in jail. The two brothers promise to safeguard a small fortune of rare coins for their friend Lloyd.
Lloyd is released wants his coins back, but before they cane give him his coins he is found dead. The first murder in the town in over 30 years. Was it the brothers? Was it some one in the town that hated Lloyd? Well, it's up to a relentless detective Orlando Hudson to find out the truth of what the town is hiding.
This film boasts of a pretty amazing cast including, Michael Jai White (Spawn), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Mike Starr (Dumb and Dumber) and David Midthunder (The Lone Ranger). Beyond that there is a pretty believable supporting cast.
I have to say I enjoyed the film. The acting was good, but Michael Jai White is outstanding! The screenplay is based on a true story and is an intriguing crime drama. The cinematography is stunning. It is good to note there is a fair amount of profanity in the film. There is also some violent images. So this is only for mature audiences.
As for the DVD release. The film is presented in widescreen format and it looks and sounds really good. The bonus features include a Theatrical trailer for 'Making a Killing' and a image slideshow. There is also bonus trailers for other films included in the bonus features menu option.
