Flora (2017) {Blu-ray Review}

Reviewed by Jason Lockard

Have you ever walked in the forest and just enjoyed the beauty that is nature? Probably so, but what if nature decided to turn against us? We would be in serious trouble. The new Blu-ray release entitled Flora from Mill Creek Entertainment takes us on an amazing journey in nature.

In the Summer of 1929 a group of students are tasked to join an explorer professor into an uncharted forest on the North American to study the native flora. When they arrive the professor is nowhere to be found. They start to search and finally find him dead. After examination they realize that a deadly organism is the cause and they must escape before it's too late. Will they escape or will they all suffer the same fate as the professor? Well, you'll have to watch the film to find out.

The film is a period piece! The costuming, props and automobiles are spot on. This made the production so believable. The screenplay, written by director Sasha Louis Vukovic is good, though it is a bit slow in some places. The acting is OK. The stand outs for me were, Sari Mercer, Teresa Marie Doran and Dan Lin. But the true star is truly the cinematography showing the beautiful landscape.

The Blu-ray release includes an
Anamorphic widescreen HD copy of the film. The colors are gorgeous and pop right off the screen. The 5.1 audio mix is outstanding. It's crisp and clear with no distortion issues.

Than there is the bonus features included in this Blu-ray release. There is a behind the scenes featurette, trailers, deleted scenes and an audio commentary with Sasha Louis Vukovic, Teresa Marie Doran, Dan Lin. I really enjoyed audio commentary it was a true bonus giving insight into the production.

Flora was a thrilling little film. That is the reason it won so many awards on the film festival circuit. So if your a fan of independent sci-fi thrillers, Flora may be just up your alley. Head over to MillCreekEnt.com or your local Blu-ray provider and get a copy.
