Sea Wolf: The Complete Mini-Series {DVD Review}

Reviewed By Jason Lockard

Television Mini-series events were a big deals back in the day! I love the epic story that take a couple nights to see what is going to happen, to these characters we invested a night of our live in! One of those mini-series was Jack London's Sea Wolf and now we can own it on DVD and digital from Mill Creek Entertainment.

The mini-series follows a young poetry critic named Humphrey van Weyden as he is cast adrift in the open sea. He is picked up by a seal hunting schooner, good news right?.... Not so much! The schooner is captained by 'Wolf' Larsen - an authoritarian and harsh captain. Humphrey must rescue the captive daughter of a rival ship owner, escape and fight to survive!

This adventure tale based on Jack London's story is adventure on the high seas. The cast includes, Sebastian Koch, Tim Roth, Neve Campbell, Stephen Campbell Moore and many other competent actors and they do a good job for the script they were given. Koch and Roth stand out as the Wolf brothers! As good of a story as it is this adaption does seem slow in spots! I love the cinematography it conveys a real sense of the isolation. The soundtrack is a real bonus to the production helping build the tension aboard the ship!

The entire mini-series is housed on one DVD! You might think the quality would suffer, but it looks really good! I think for TV mini-series you don't loose a lot of quality on one DVD because the TV miniseries this isn't going to have the HD quality look that big block buster releases have! So in my opinion it looks really impressive on the DVD!

So if you love Jack London film adaptions or high seas drama this one may want to jump aboard! Head over to www.MillCreekEnt.com or your local DVD provider and pick up a copy today!
