S.W.A.T. (2003) {Blu-ray Review}

Reviewed by: Jason S. Lockard

Hollywood has been rebooting and remaking movies based on classic TV shows for a years now! Sadly rarely if ever do they capture the magic of the original series. One such movie based on a series was S.W.A.T. Now thanks to Mill Creek Entertainment fans can own this movie on Blu-ray.

The film follows S.W.A.T. commander Dan "Hondo" Harrelson (Samuel L. Jackson) and his team who are thrown into action when a notorious drug lord, offers a $100 million bounty to anyone who can free him from police custody. As they escort the kingpin out of Los Angeles into the hands of the Feds, the S.W.A.T. team is pursued by a ruthless and well-armed band of mercenaries.

The film does suffer a little from a long backstory that leads to the main story. Also the film is nothing like the original series! Which is
available on DVD through Mill Creek as well! The action and violence is a lot more pronounced and there is a good amount of profanity in the film! That may or may not be a big deal depending on the viewer.

The film on this Blu-ray release has amazing audio and video quality. The colors leap off the screen and the gunshots will have you ducking for cover. Than there is the bonus features not one but two audio commentaries. One with the director and members of the cast and the other with the screenwriters.

For fans of action films this one would make a great addition to any collection.
And for less than $15 its a great deal. Head over to www.MillCreekEnt.com or your local video provider and pick this one up today!
