In the 1980's there was a lot of sword and sorcery films around! One such film was the Italian-French-Turkish co-production film; Yor, The hunter from the future! Now for the 35 anniversary of this film it's getting a Blu-ray release thanks to Mill Creek Entertainment!
Yor, the hunter from the future was a film based on the Argentinian comic Yor the Hunter. It was originally planned as a four part miniseries, to be broadcast on Italy television.
The film follows Yor (Reb Brown, Captain America), a blond prehistoric warrior, who is questioning his origins. When he learns that a desert goddess wears the same kind of mysterious medallion he wears. To unlock the truth to his past he goes on a journey to find this goddess. On the way he encounters ape-men, dinosaurs, and a strange futuristic society.
There are some films that are just so bad that there good! And this film has a lot of bad in it, but it is so entertaining. And in the end isn't that what we watch movie for, to be entertained?
I am so glad Mill Creek has given this film a Blu-ray release for the 35th Anniversary! On this Blu-ray you get the widescreen version of this cheesy sci-fi adventure. The film has some slight blemishes in it, but nothing that would take away from the viewing of the film.
Now let's take a look at the special bonus features. You get the theatrical trailer as well as an audio commentary featuring Yor himself, the legend Reb Brown. He give us behind the scenes information about the making of this feature as well as about the weather and the costumes and more! That is such a cool bonus feature!
The Blu-ray comes housed in a standard Blu-ray case. The Blu-ray cover features the original U.S. theatrical poster art. But the really nice part is the slipcover! It features a comic illustration of Yor himself! I love that you get two different pieces of artwork here!
So if your a fan of 80s movies, Reb Brown or cheesy entertainment this is one you have to check out! Head over to www.MillCreekEnt.com or your local video provider and pick this one up today!
