Coach The Complete Series (DVD Review)

Reviewed By Jason S. Lockard

In the late 80s and 90’s football fans enjoyed the outrageously funny antics of Coach Hayden Fox (Craig T. Nelson), the head coach of Minnesota State University football team. Hayden was the prototypical dumb jock with a big heart. Now Mill Creek Entertainment has released the entire series of this show on DVD.

Coach boasted of a great cast of characters from Craig T. Nelson playing Coach Fox, his loving and patient girlfriend Christine Armstrong played by Shelley Fabares classic TV fans would know her best as Dr. and Mrs. Stone’s daughter on The Donna Reed Show and Luther Van Dam Defensive Coordinator for Minnesota State played by Jerry Van Dyke.

This 21 disc DVD set includes all 200 episodes of the entire TV series. The audio and video quality of the episodes are not high definition, but you can never expect that because this show was filmed on video not on film. One major downer is the episodes from season 5-9 are edited episodes ranging 22 minute or under.

Now for the packaging! It is a little flimsy! It's a cardboard case holding cardboard sleeves! Do I wish the packaging was better, yes! But in my opinion it's not as bad as people make it out to be! If your careful with the discs they won't get scratched when you take the discs out and when you return them to their sleeves. The cardboard case can get crushed easily yes but it will be fine if your careful with them.

Many people say well I'm just going to pass on this collection! Unless something changes this is the only way your going to get this release cause Universal gave up on releasing Coach many years ago after just 4 season! I would rather have edited standard definition complete series of this show in a less than stellar case than not at all!

So if your a fan of football, sitcoms or Craig T. Nelson this shows this is an absolute must add to your collection. And it is the only way your going to get it! Head over to Amazon and pick this one up today!
