Frederick Kohner first wrote his novel, ‘Gidget, the little girl with big ideas’ based on his teenage daughter in 1957. He probably never realized that the character he created would go on to appear in several movies and ABC would make his character the headline of one of the first shows ever to be shown in color. Now the complete series is on DVD from Mill Creek Entertainment.
The series follows teenager Frances Lawrence better known to her family and friends as Gidget. Gidget lives a nice suburb California life with her widower father, Professor Russell Lawrence. Gidget is pretty much your average teen. Gidget and her best friend geeky Larue find themselves in countless comical situations.
Some of the best episodes in this series include; The great Kahuna: Gidget takes on as her hero a surfer bum named Kahuna. A hearse, a hearse, my kingdom for a hearse: Gidget becomes part owner in her first car, a hearse. Operation shaggy dog: Gidget’s favorite burger joint is going to be tore down. This series is a big slice of Americana! It just takes you back to a simpler and more perfect time!
The series includes all 32 hilarious episodes on 3 discs. Each episode is presented in full frame with really good audio and video quality. The DVD menu is easy to access.
