Thanks to Warner Archive Collection, the catalogue of Hanna-Barbera cartoons is being released right and left on Blu-ray. Recently, we have seen Wally Gator, Lippy the Lion and Hardy Har Har, and The New Fred and Barney Show. Now the newest cartoon to see a Blu-ray release is Loopy De Loop.
Synopsis: Loopy De Loop is a French-Canadian wolf with a mission: change wolves' image. Not an easy job, even for a loup as charming as Mssr. Loopy, and the poor fellow is usually rewarded with a smack on his head. But hope springs eternal in the heart of this unsavage beast as he tries to undo Wolf's big, bad reputation by rendering aid to the likes of Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, Little Bo Beep, Hansel and Gretel, Cinderella, D'Artagnan, Dr. Jekyll, and more to hilarious results.
When you think Hanna-Barbera, most think The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Yogi Bear, Scooby Doo, or Huckleberry Hound. But Loopy De Loop is a highly underrated cartoon. The hijinx of this series is extremly fun. Loopy just wants to be a good wolf, yet every time he tries to help, it turns on him, with hilarious results.
These 48 cartoons run 6 to 7 minutes each. That is a total of 315 minutes for this complete series. That is just over 5 hours. This complete series could be binged in one evening. That would make one fun evening of entertainment.
Warner Archive Collection has transferred Loopy De Loop to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 1.37:1 with side mattes. The audio track is an English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono track. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
Warner Archive have taken all 48 Loopy De Loop shorts and remastered them in 4k from the original camera negatives. What results is simply gorgeous-looking cartoons. The colors are bright and vibrant. There are no signs of fading. The audio is clear, with no hiss or pops. Warner Archive never disappoints with its restorations.
This two-disc Blu-ray collects all the Loopy De Loop cartoons in one set. The only downside of this collection is that there are no bonus features. There is no retrospective, interviews, featurettes, or anything. I would have loved to see bonus features. After all, that is what makes the home video releases stand out the most from streaming.
