Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978) Blu-ray Review | Peter Sellers Returns as Inspector Clouseau

After four hilarious adventures as Inspector Clouseau Peter Sellers. He joined forces with director Blake Edwards for one final another Pink Panther movie. 1978 saw The Revenge of The Pink Panther. These hilarious films have been restored and released on Blu-ray.

Kino Lorber have released, The Pink Panther, A Shot in the Dark, The Return of the Pink Panther and The Pink Panther Strikes Again. Now the final Peter Sellers Pink Panther film The Revenge of The Pink Panther comes to Blu-ray featuring a new 4k Scan.

Synopsis: A crime syndicate has put out a hit on the disaster-magnet French detective which they believe has succeeded, so he decides — as only Clouseau can — to go “under the covers, y’kneuw.” While his high-strung former boss Dreyfus (Herbert Lom) tries to piece together the case, Clouseau dons ridiculously complicated disguises and hectically enlists the aid of his loyally fight-prone employee Cato (Burt Kwouk) for field work. But it’s the crime ring’s whistleblower Simone (Dyan Cannon) who holds the key to a Hong Kong rendezvous — filmed on location — where mayhem erupts in an explosively funny finale!

This is really Peter Sellers final Pink Panther film. Even though "Trail of the Pink Panther" starred Sellers. That film was produced after his death and used deleted scenes. Revenge of The Pink Panther is the weakest of the Pink Panther films, but Peter Sellers is still hilarious as Inspector Clouseau.

Kino Lorber has transferred The Revenge of Pink Panther to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. There are two English audio tracks a 5.1 Surround and Lossless 2.0 Audio. Finally there is the option for English Subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

This Blu-ray transfer is taken from a 4K Scan of the 35mm Original Camera Negative. The picture is sharp as a tack with no damage to the print visible. The audio is clear with not hiss or pops. And the colors are simply gorgeous. What an amazing looking film this is in HD! But a great looking restoration transfer is not all this release has going for it. Look at the bonus features included on this disc.

* Audio Commentary with Film Historian William Patrick Maynard
* Two Theatrical Trailers
* Five TV Spots
* Five Radio Spots

Unlike the previous Blu-ray releases. This releases bonus features are not quite as impressive. The audio commentary is nice. But than there is just trailers and spots. Not as much but still a nice bonus. Finally as with the other Blu-rays, they added a reversable Blu-ray insert. You have either an insert that has Peter Sellers on it, or you can choose the one with The Pink Panther cartoon character on it. I love this option.

So, if you enjoy the Peter Sellers the Pink Panther films as much as I do fun. You need all the new Kino Lorber Blu-rays including this final one The Revenge of The Pink Panther. These will make a great addition to your home video library. Head over to Kino Lorber or Amazon today and order your copy of the Revenge of the Pink Panther today.
