Kino Lorber released The Pink Panther, A Shot in the Dark and The Return of the Pink Panther on Blu-ray. These films have been restored in 4K. Well not it is time for the 4th Pink Panther film The Pink Panther Strikes Again to receive the Blu-ray treatment.
Synopsis: The lovably inept detective Jacques Clouseau has now been promoted to Chief Inspector. But Clouseau has no time to “rust assured” on his laurels since his mad longtime boss, “former Chief Inspector!” Dreyfus (Herbert Lom) has escaped from an insane asylum to a sinister lair and commissioned a doomsday device. Holding the world to ransom, Dreyfus places a bounty on Clouseau’s confused head — which cues a slew of international assassins setting off to slay the oblivious French detective, as he stumbles around the globe after Dreyfus.
From the opening sequence to the Pink Panther cartoons credits to all the hilarity they follow in this feature film. This film is a tour de force of fun. Blake Edwards knows how to make Inspector Clouseau the butt of the jokes and Peter Sellers knows how to no sell those jokes taking the hilarity to new heights. The Pink Panther Strikes Again may be the fourth film in the series yet is it just as much fun as the previous films.
Kino Lorber has transferred The Pink Panther Strikes Again to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. There two audio tracks to choose from there is an English 5.1 Surround and an English Lossless 2.0 Audio. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
This Blu-ray transfer is taken from a 4K Scan of the 35mm Original Camera Negative. The picture is crisp and clean with no signs of debris or scratches. The audio is clear with not hiss or pops. And the colors are bright and vibrant. This is a simply gorgeous looking film in HD!

Another wonderful Audio commentary by Jason Simos and not one, not two, but three featurettes along with trailers, really enhance this release. As we have seen with the other Kino Lorber Pink Panther Blu-ray releases. They added a reversable Blu-ray insert. You have either an insert that has Peter Sellers on it, or you can choose the one with The Pink Panther cartoon character on it. I love this option.
Peter Sellers and Blake Edwards make a remarkable team. The Pink Panther films are so much fun, and this one is no different. I cannot recommend these Blu-ray releases enough.
