Valentine's Day is a time for love, romance and terror. At least for horror movie fans. There are many films that horror film couple could watch together on that special day. But what about something new? We got you covered.
Osgood Perkins brought the world a romantic horror film entitled Keeper. Now physical media fans have the opportunity to own this film on 4K UltraHD and Blu-ray. But should you?
Synopsis: A romantic anniversary trip to a secluded cabin for Liz (Tatiana Maslany) and Malcolm (Rossif Sutherland) turns sinister when a dark presence reveals itself, forcing a couple to confront the property's haunting past.
Keeper really had potential. The film has tremendous atmosphere, but this is a slow burn horror film. And for film fans of this generation, they prefer the rapid burn horror. For this reviewer I felt that this film was more or less a series of scary moments instead of a cohesive story. That is a shame for a film I was looking forward to enjoying.
Tatiana Maslany really stands out in the cast here. Here performance is great. But in the end her performance, no matter how good, can't save this film that just doesn't quite hit the high notes. Plus watching a film you want the payoff for spending your time. Without spoiling it, the payoff makes no sense. At least to me.
Keeper has been transferred to 4K in 2160p and Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. There are two audio options an English DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio and an English 2.0 Dolby Digital. There is also the option for subtitles in English SDH, Spanish, French.
Keeper looks and sounds stunning in UltraHD. The picture is crisp and clean and the audio is clear. There are no signs of digital artifacts or audio anomalies. You can rest assured there is no issues with the picture here. In addition to a wonderful transfer there are some bonus features included. take a look at what found on this 2-disc set.
* Audio Commentary with Osgood Perkins
* Teaser and Trailer
As you can see the bons features are a bit on the skimpy side here. Osgood Perkins' commentary adds insight into the making of the film. But then there is just promotional material with the trailer and teaser. In my humble opinion with a 4K release there should be more bonus features. Interviews, featurettes and more.
Now while Keeper was not my cup of tea. This film will have its fans and owning it on 4K would be a no brainer. So, if you love the films of Osgood Perkins and want to add Keeper to your home video library head over to Amazon and order your copy today.
Out of 4 film reels (4 being the best) the 4k of Keeper receives......
