It is totally unfair, because Ang Lee has made many great films. But his name will always remind me of the Edward Norton Marvel film Hulk. But one thing is for sure is has an imaginative eye for cinema.
Now it is hard to believe, but Ang Lee's Sense and Sensibility is 30-year-old. Well, for that epic of a birthday, it's time for an epic release. So, Sony Picture Home Entertainment have released this film on 4K UltraHD!
Synopsis: Based on Jane Austen's classic novel, SENSE AND SENSIBILITY tells of the Dashwood sisters, sensible Elinor (Emma Thompson) and passionate Marianne (Kate Winslet), whose chances at marriage seem doomed by their family's sudden loss of fortune. Rickman, Grant and Greg Wise co-star as the well-intentioned suitors who are trapped by the strict rules of society and the conflicting laws of desire.
This Jane Austen film adaption has an impressive cast including, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Kate Winslet and Hugh Grant. The acting is top notch, and the film adaption is true to the novel. Ang Lee's direction really brings the old world to our world.
Sony has transferred Sense and Sensibility to 4K UltraHD in 2160p and is presented in its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio. There are several audio tracks to choose from. There is an English Dolby Atmos (Dolby TruHD 7.1), English, French (PAR) 5.0 DTS-HD MA, Spanish 2-Channel Surround Sound DTS-HD MA. Finally, there are subtitle options in English, French and Spanish.
Sense and Sensibility really shine in 4K! The colors of the costumes really pop, and the flesh tones are beautiful. Sony really did a wonderful job with this 4K transfer. Of course, I want a gorgeous looking print to enjoy the film for my physical media release, but beyond that I love bonus features. And for me 2 audio commentaries, the loading the 25th anniversary reunion, featurettes and deleted scenes. This makes this 4K a wonderful upgrade for anyone's romantic comedy wing of their home video library.
Finally, there is one other really cool selling point for this release. Not only do you get this film on a 4K disc. Sony also added a digital copy of this film that can be redeemed through Movies Anywhere. I love this bonus!
