Now of course this review is for season 2 of this series. So, we won't go into Season 1. But if you want to see Yellowstone and 1923. They are available to stream on Paramount+. But let's be honest nothing compares the quality of home video. That is why I am glad to be able to see 1923 Season 2 on Blu-ray.
Synopsis: A cruel winter brings new challenges and unfinished business to Jacob and Cara back at Dutton ranch. With harsh conditions and adversaries threatening to end the Dutton legacy, Spencer embarks on an arduous journey home, racing against time to save his family in Montana. Meanwhile, Alexandra sets off on her own harrowing trans-Atlantic journey to find Spencer and reclaim their love.
The writing is excellent, and the acting of Helen and Harrison really ground the cast in believability. But Brandon Sklenar really is unforgettable. The violence can be a bit much for some viewers and there is a good amount of profanity and sexual content including nudity. Which this reviewer didn't take a lot of pleasure in. So going into this series, just be aware.
Now streaming seasons differ quite a bit from broadcast TV seasons. Season 2 of 1923 has a grand total of only 7 episodes. But they are dramatic entertaining episodes. There is a lot of entertainment jammed into those 7 episodes.
Paramount Home Entertainment has transferred these 7 episodes to Blu-ray on 3 discs. There are presented in 1080p in widescreen format. The audio is an English 5.1 Dolby Digital TruHD track. There are also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
These episodes look so amazing in High Definition. I enjoy streaming content, but when you want the best HD quality you can't really replicate the quality you find on a Blu-ray or a 4K disc. 1923 really looks the best on Blu-ray. This is where Blu-ray blows streaming out of the water. I enjoy the season episodes. And of course that is major reason to buy this Blu-ray, but the bons featurettes are so much fun. These are what take a season release from good to great.
