Dark Water (2005) Arrow Video 4kUltraHD Review

Arrow Video knows fand love their J-Horror! So they have released many J-Horror films one of the best Blu-rays Blind Beast and here recently we saw the Blu-ray collection of J-Horror Rising. But what about other great J-Horror releases?

Arrow Video released a haunting tale on 4K UltraHD entitled Dark Water. Director Hideo Nakata known for directing Ring (1998) and Ring 2 (1999) was the one to direct 2005's Dark Water.

Synopsis: Based upon on a short story by Ring author Koji Suzuki, Dark Water follows Yoshimi, a single mother struggling to win sole custody of her only child, Ikuko. When they move into a new home within a dilapidated and long-forgotten apartment complex, Yoshimi begins to experience startling visions and unexplainable sounds, calling her mental well-being into question, and endangering not only her custody of Ikuko, but perhaps their lives as well.

Hideo Nakata brought the world the unforgetable VCR ghost films Ringu (as it was known in Japen), here he returns to the supernatural expertly directing Dark Water. The film is not a slasher or gory horror, it is a slow burn, emotional horror film that once you watch you will never forget.

Arrow Video has transferred this film to
4K UltraHD in (2160p) the presentation is in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible). The audio track is an original lossless Japanese language 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. There is also the option for English subtitles.

Dark Water looks and sounds stunning in 4K. Arrow Video never ceases to amaze me at the amount of love and detail they put into their releases. Beyond a beautiful copy of Dark Water in 4K, Arrow Video added some great bonus features to this release. Take a look at what is included.
