Well, Lucy and Desi felt there was value in their shows so they negotiated a deal that they would own the shows after the airing of the episodes. The reruns of I Love Lucy would bring new generations of audiences. And now it still lives on in the streaming world on Paramount+ and even streaming free on Pluto TV.
But for physical media fans there is nothing like watching their favorite movie or TV show on disc. So, CBS and Paramount Home Entertainment have restored and released the complete TV series of I Love Lucy on Blu-ray!
Synopsis: In October 1951, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz debuted the first episode of what was to become one of the best-loved and most watched TV shows of all time. Zany redhead Lucy and her Cuban bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo, along with their neighbors and comic foils Ethel and Fred Mertz (Vivian Vance and William Frawley), got into the most hilarious predicaments ever imaginable. Overflowing with notable guest stars and escapades that never lose their entertainment value, it's no wonder why everyone still loves Lucy.
This huge Blu-ray box includes 33 Blu-ray discs. On these discs are all 194 episodes of the I Love Lucy TV show and the Lucy Desi Comedy Hour. These episodes are presented in 1080p in their original full screen format. There are audio options of English 5.1. There is also English mono audio and Spanish mono audio for season 1 and 2. Finally, there is the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
I grew up on the reruns of I Love Lucy. I don't know how many times I have watched this series over my years. But watching them now in HD on this Blu-ray set is a whole new experience. The crispness and the clarity of these episodes in HD is stunning. While they have been available in HD on Paramount+, when you see these episodes on Blu-ray in comparison to streaming, there is no doubt physical media will always be superior to streaming.

Lucy was so much fun on the radio so to have almost 40 full length episodes of her hilarious radio show is such a great bonus. Then there is the fun I Love Lucy movie, granted it is basically episodes of I Love Lucy pieced together, but it is still a part of cinema history. So many great bonuses.
If there was one thing that I wished was included in this Blu-ray set was more of the colorized episodes. Over the years many I Love Lucy episodes have been colorized, but yet on this massive deluxe Blu-ray set there is just 2 colorized episodes included. I would have preferred to see all of them included. That is the only thing that could have made this set better.

The only other thing that I wasn't overly happy with was the fact that these Blu-ray discs are stacked on top of one another in the disc trays. That is not my favorite type of packaging. But if you are careful these discs will last a lifetime.
I Love Lucy is simply one of the greatest sitcoms in television history. To see the beautiful quality of these episode on Blu-ray. This is what a hilarious classic show like this deserves.
