Demons (1985) 4k UltraHD Review

Dario Argento is an Italian horror film legend. He has made some of the most nightmarish films in cinema history. In 1985 Dario Argento and Lamberto Bava joined forces to bring the world a film that would become a cult classics. That film is Demons.

Synapse Films have been releasing some of the most amazing deluxe edition of cult horror classics like, The Creature from Black Lake, Crocodile, The Kindred, Tenebrae, and Phenomena. Well, Synapses Films are giving Demons a deluxe 4K release!

Synopsis: A masked man offers tickets to a horror movie sneak preview at the mysterious Metropol cinema. When a patron is scratched by a prop displayed in the theatre lobby, she transforms into a flesh-ripping demon! One by one, the audience members mutate into horrible creatures hell-bent on destroying the world! Can anyone escape this gory orgy of terror?

No one is ever going to consider Demons on a par with Argento's Suspiria or Deep Red. But there is no doubt that this Argento/Bava production is one entertaining horror film. The special effects are really nice. My goodness do I love 80s practical effects. The acting could be a bit better, but the story is a really unique one!

Synapse Films have
remastered Demons in 4K from the original camera negative in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible). This 4K Edition also presents two versions of the film: the full-length original cut in English and Italian, and the shorter U.S. version featuring alternate dubbing and sound effects. There is the audio options of Uncompressed DTS-HD MA English & Italian 5.1/2.0 audio mixes on the original cut derived from the archival audio masters and Uncompressed DTS-HD MA English 2.0 U.S. theatrical mono audio.

In addition Synapse Films added the option of Newly translated optional English SDH subtitles for the English version and Newly translated English subtitles for the Italian version. That is always a cool bonus as older subtitles can sometimes feel outdated!

Synapse Films never disappoints when they remaster a film in 4k and Demons is no different! This new remaster really brings the terror into your lap. The picture is crisp and clean. The film details really pop off the screen. But a tremendous looking remastered film is not all that this 4K has going for it. Synapse Films added some awesome bonus features as well. Take a look at what is included.
