Wrong Reasons Blu-ray Review

Kevin Smith is the director of so many fan favorites. His films truly have a cult following. He is the creator of character Jay and Silent Bob. Arrow Video released a deluxe Blu-ray of the Kevin Smith film Mallrats. Defiantly one Blu-ray that I consider a must own.

Well, during the Covid-19 pandemic, filmmaker Josh Roush wrote a screenplay that Kevin Smith loved. So, Kevin Smith helped raise the money to produce this film. So thus the Executive Producer Kevin Smith presents the Josh Roush directed film Wrong Reason. And this film is getting the deluxe Blu-ray treatment from MVD Visual.

When an ambiguously intentioned masked man (James Parks, The Hateful Eight) kidnaps a drug addicted punk singer (Liv Roush, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot), it triggers a police investigation headed by Detective Charles Dobson (Ralph Garman, Ted) as well as a media circus.

Josh Roush is known as a documentary filmmaker. But Wrong Reasons is his first narrative film. The film is a unique one to say the least. I am not going to talk about the story too much, because I hate to spoil it for people who want to see it!
Wrong Reasons is not the best crime drama ever, but it has it's times.

You would hardly believe this film was shot during the pandemic. The production value is really good. Along with the talents of James Parks, Liv Roush and Ralph Garman, there is an all-star supporting cast that includes Teresa Ruiz (The Marksman), David Koechner (Anchorman) Daniel Roebuck (The Fugitive), Keith Coogan (Adventures in Babysitting) and Kevin Smith. Everyone's acting is good in this film!

Probably the best part of this feature is the kicking punk rock soundtrack that includes Tim Armstrong, L7, Black Flag, The Wipers, Channel 3, William Elliott Whitmore, The Unseen, Bi-Product and more!

Now it should be noted that Wrong Reasons is an extremely adult feature film. It features heavy profanity, drug use, violence and nudity. So, this film is by no means for the whole family. And if you as a viewer are offended by these things, you may want to stay away.

Now Wrong Reasons have been transferred to Blu-ray thanks to MVD Visual. The film is presented in 1080p in 2.35:1 aspect ratio and the audio is a 5.1 surround sound. There is also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. The film transfer is crisp and clean with no signs of Blu-ray artifacts.

Now a crisp looking film on Blu-ray is not all that is included on this Blu-ray. MVD Visual went above and beyond and added some really cool bonus features to this release. Take a look at what is included.

* Introduction by Kevin Smith
* Commentary with Director Josh Roush, Co-Producer Matt Rowbottom, Composer Cam Mosavian and Star Liv Roush
* Commentary with Director Josh Roush and Executive Producer Kevin Smith
* Q & A with Writer / Director Josh Roush, Producer / Star Live Roush moderated by Kevin Smith and Ralph Garman
* Deleted Scenes & Outtakes
* Original Theatrical Trailer
* Short Film from Director Josh Roush: “Idiot Cops”
* Optional English Subtitles
* Reversible Artwork
* Slipcover

So MVD went above and beyond here and put so much bonuses on this release to up the cool factor. I just wish that the film was a little better. It would have been a knock out the park release. MVD Visual loves physical media as much as the fans do and they put love into every release.

Now let's be honest, Wrong Reasons is not going to be for everyone. If you love Kevin Smith films than this will be one you will want for your collection. You just have to make that decision. And if you do love Kevin Smith films then this new Blu-ray release is the way you will want to see it as it is filled with bonuses.

If you are a fan of crime dramas the Blu-ray of Wrong Reasons may be what you are looking for. Heave over to Amazon and order your copy today.
