Invaluable: The True Story of an Epic Artist: Blu-ray Review

In the history of horror movies there is a film that is considered a 'classic' by most. That film is The Evil Dead. The film was written and directed by Sam Raimi and starred Bruce Campbell, but there were many other talented people that made that film the classic that it has become. One of those men was FX Artist Tom Sullivan.

Synapse Films have released a deluxe Blu-ray featuring a 2014 documentary about the FX Artist entitled, Invaluable: The True Story of An Epic Artist. But this is not all that is included in this Blu-ray there is much more. Let's take a look!

The almost 2 hour documentary takes an in depth look at Evil Dead special FX artist Tom Sullivan and how he helped get the film off the ground, With the help of some of his friends. This documentary features interviews with Bruce Campbell, Ellen Sandweiss, Betsy Baker, Hal Delrich, Ted Raimi and more.

This is very professional looking documentary and really dives deep into the life of Tom Sullivan. Tracking his early life as a kid making stop motion film, his friendship with people he would help make The film The Evil Dead. It is really nice trek through the past. Director Ryan Meade made a really interesting film here!

Synapse Film has transferred this documentary in 1080p in 1.78:1 aspect ratio. The audio is an uncompressed PCM English 2.0 Stereo. The films transfer looks sharp and clear. The only parts of the film that are not are the old clips of the early films. But that is completely understandable.

Now for fans of the FX artistry of Tim Sullivan this would be enough to want to own this release. But Synapse Films added some really awesome bonus features to this Blu-ray release. Take a look at what is included.

How can you go wrong there! Then also interviews, trailers, short films, trailers galleries. This Blu-ray disc is jam packed with good material for horror movies fans.

Now let's be honest here unless you are a fan of horror movies, you probably would not be interested in knowing much about the FX artists and filmmakers that made The Evil Dead. But if you are a fan, this is going to be one enjoyable Blu-ray disc.
