Cisco Kid Western Movie Collection (DVD Review)

When you think of westerns from the golden age of film, there are several characters that stand out. The Lone Ranger, The Man with No Name, Django and many others.

One of those characters that was extremely successful, giving fans many films and a TV Show was the name The Cisco Kid. Now the good folks at VCI Entertainment are releasing an epic 13 movie collection of western films of Cisco Kid.

Disc One:
South of the Rio Grande (1945) Cisco is serenading the new senorita in town when he is suddenly interrupted - a dear friend been arrested and sentenced to be shot for stealing cattle. ***

The Girl of San Loranzo (1950) Criminals, disguised as Cisco and Pancho, have been holding up several stagecoaches, spreading fear in the community. *** 


Disc Two:
Satan's Cradle (1949) Cisco and Pancho decide to help a preacher clean up his town of Silver City. ***

The Daring Cabellero (1949) Cisco and Pancho rescue a young boy's father, who is about to be hanged for a crime he did not commit. ***


Disc Three:
The Cisco Kid Returns (1945) Cisco assumes the identity of a murdered rancher in order to expose his killer. ***

The Cisco Kid in Mexico (1945) Cisco and Pancho kidnap a damsel-in-distress from a stagecoach in order to save her from a false murder charge and to smoke out the real killers. ***

The Gay Amigo (1949)
Cisco Kid and Pancho are being blamed for a crime that they didn't commit and must find real culprits to clear themselves before the cavalry catches up them. ***


Disc Four: 
The Gay Cavalier (1946) In this polished adventure Cisco has his hands full between solving a stagecoach robbery and rescuing a woman from marrying a man who is not what he seems to be. ***

Beauty and the Bandit (1946) Cisco and Pancho come to the rescue of a beautiful young senorita who is in immediate danger of losing her ranch to a low-down varmint. **

South of Monterey (1946) Trying to stop a land swindling scheme proves to be a little tricky for Cisco Kid and his side kick Pancho when the men behind it turn out to be a police captain and a tax collector. ***


Disc Five:
Riding the California Trail (1947) By impersonation, quick thinking and an exciting duel, a lovely senorita is rescued. ***

Robin Hood of Monterey (1947) Cisco Kid is almost executed for murder but escapes and captures the real killer. ***

King of the Bandits (1947) U.S. Marshalls pursue Cisco when he catches blame for an imposter's string of stagecoach robberies. ***

These films are presented in their original black and white full screen format. The audio is a Dolby Digital 2.0. These transfers look and sound pretty nice. Admittedly there are some scratches and debris on many of these films, but I think they look good for films that are over 80 years old.
