Well, when Mill Creek Entertainment announced a double feature Blu-ray release of Richard Pryor, I was excited. Especially when I saw what one of those films were. I have wanted to see The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings since I saw it when I was a teenager. Now not only do I have it, but it's on Blu-ray!

The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars & Motor Kings (1976) In the world of 1930s Negro League baseball, a spirited team of renegade players travels around the Midwest looking for that one big score. Richard Pryor, Billy Dee Williams and James Earl Jones star as three barnstorming ballplayers who take on prejudice and their own League's unfair rules while stealing cars, food and home base - anything to prove that they're the best team around. It's a showdown of brains over booby traps and sportsmanship over racial segregation as Bingo Long's All-Stars swing their way to a winning season. ****
Which Way Is Up? (1977) Richard Pryor plays three roles - a beleaguered, sex-starved farm worker named Leroy Jones; the farm worker's randy old father Rufus; and the hypocritical town preacher Rev. Lenox Thomas - and Pryor has never been so outrageously funny. The lives and love lives of these three men cross and crisscross as Leroy tries to get his life back on track. The fun kicks into high gear when Leroy moves from labor to management. He tries to juggle his wife and his girlfriend, but the only peace he can find is in the arms of the Reverend's wife! It's a case of too many women and too little time. No wonder he doesn't know Which Way Is Up? ***
Now of course these films are from the 1970s so there is a lot of language that will be deemed by many to be extremely offensive. But if you can overlook that and just enjoy the comedy your going to really enjoy this double feature.
Of course, as I wrote above the real reason I was excited about this set was for the baseball comedy Bingo Long. I remember watching this film so many years ago. It never left my mind, even after all these years. And it is still enjoyed it all these years later. I have spent a lot of years searching for a copy of that film. Well, now thanks to Mill Creek Entertainment I don't have to search anymore.
Both of these Richard Pryor films are presented in 1080p in aspect ratio 1.85:1 and the audio is a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. There is also the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
With both films together running just under 3 and a half hours, there is more than enough space on a Blu-ray disc for both films to live without much compression issues. The colors a bright and vibrant and the picture is crisp and clean. Both films look really nice on this Blu-ray disc.
I really enjoy these double feature Blu-rays that Mill Creek Entertainment releases, and this one is no different. This release is going to go right alongside all my other Richard Pryor films. I will defiantly be rewatching it again in the very near future! It was that good!
So if you love Richard Pryor movies, this double feature Blu-ray is a must own. You can head over to Amazon and order your copy of Which Way is Up? and The Bingo Long Traveling All-Stars and Motor Kings.
