Blu-ray Review: Storm Warning (1951)

Ronald Reagan was the 40th President of the United States. Many people in this generation may only think of him as the leader of the free world in the 1980s. But some may be unaware that he was a pretty good little actor before he entered into the world of politics.

In 1951 Ronald Reagan was joined by two Hollywood legends Ginger Rogers and Doris Day for a film noir adventure entitled Storm Warning. Now the great folks at Warner Archive Collection have decided to give this film a chance to shine on Blu-ray.

A traveling dress model (Ginger Rogers) stops in a Southern town to visit her sister, who has married a Ku Klux Klan member. While there, she helps the district attorney (Ronald Reagan) prosecute Klan members after she witnesses them commit a murder.

Storm Warning is a thought provoking, dramatic story. The acting is tremendous. The film runs just over 90 minutes but you would never know it as the film moves along at a great speed keeping you engaged in the story!

Warner Archive transferred the film in 1080p in the original full screen format the aspect ratio is 1.37:1. The audio is a DTS-HD 2.0 and there is the option for English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing. This new transfer features a new 4K scan and what a miraculous looking scan it is!

Warner Archive's transfer of this film noir to Blu-ray is simply amazing. The picture quality is crisp and clean with no signs of damage to the print. The audio is clean with no hiss or pops. Warner Archive continually impresses with their transfers. And this one is no different! But what I love is when Warner Archive adds cool bonuses to there releases. This one is no different! Take a look at what is included.

* Theatrical Trailer

* One Who Came Back (1951) A US Army corporal wounded in the Korean War narrates his story of recovery as cameras follow him starting with evacuation from the battlefield, through treatment in a series of hospitals, and eventually returning to the United States.

* Bunny Hugged (1951) Bugs Bunny enters into the world of Professional wrestling.

Well as you can see Warner Archive added the classic short film, cartoon and trailer to this Blu-ray, and I always love it when they do! When these bonuses are added it makes watching the release seem more going to the actual movies back in the day. And to me that is the coolest!

In the final analysis of Storm Warning, some movies are made for the joy of entertainment and some films are meant for a greater purpose. They are made to make a statement. And Storm Warning wanted to shine a light on what hatred really can do! Even though this film is over 50 years old it is still poignant even today!

So if you love film noirs as much as I do, Storm Warning is one you are going to need for your collection. This Blu-ray is the perfect way to add it to your collection. Head over to
Amazon and order your copy of the Blu-ray today.
