In 1973 he starred in the action cop drama entitled "Electra Glide in Blue". Now the great folks at Kino Lorber under the division KL Studio Classics are giving this film a chance to shine on Blu-ray.
A short Arizona motorcycle cop John Wintergreen patrols the Arizona highways dreaming of working in the homicide division. Than when a hermit turns up dead it has to be decided whether it was suicide or murder. Now Wintergreen gets a chance to join a hard-nosed detective Harvey Poole on the case.
Electra Glide in Blue is a dramatic film with some dark humor thrown in for good measure. James William Guercio masterfully directed this dramatic feature. Robert Blake shines as he does in everything he is in. But there is also a very strong supporting cast including; Mitchell Ryan (Magnum Force), Billy Green Bush (The Culpepper Cattle Co.), Jeannine Riley (Petticoat Junction), Elisha Cook Jr. (The Maltese Falcon, House on Haunted Hill) and Royal Dano (Ghoulies, Gholies 2).
Electra Glide in Blue is rated PG, but there is a little bit of blood, some mild sexual situations and a good chunk of profanity. There is also a couple of of instances when a word that in this generation would be considered by many extremely offensive is used. I would consider this film a little stronger than PG, at least in my opinion. So with that, I defiantly suggest parents watch the film before letting teenager watch this one.
Kino Lorber has transferred this 70s cult classic in 1080p in 2.39:1 sourced from a 4K master from an original camera negative. The soundtrack is a DTS-HD 2.0 Master Audio track. There is also the option for English Subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.
When watching this Blu-ray I must say that this film looks and sounds remarkable. The picture is crisp and clean the colors are gorgeous. There is just very minor specks visible. The audio is clear with no signs of pops or hiss. This 4K master is great.
Now a simply amazing 4K transfer is not all that Kino Lorber added to this Blu-ray. They really went above and beyond and added some brand new features. Take a look at the special features included on this Blu-ray.
