With Roe v. Wade and the debate on abortion is news, it is the perfect time to relive the 1972's James Coburn film The Cary Treatment.

Now thanks to the great folks at Warner Archive The Carey Treatment is receiving a Blu-ray release. And no doubt James Coburn could not be happier.

The film follows Dr. Peter Carey (James Coburn) who moves to Boston, there he becomes a pathologist for a local hospital. But in the meantime he also becomes involved with Georgia Hightower (Jennifer O'Neill).

But this new beginning soon turns bad as Dr. Carey's friend Dr. Tao is arrested and charged with the death of a young teenage girl from an illegal abortion. Now Dr. Carey goes on a one man quest to clear Dr. Tao's name.

The Carey Treatment is a thrilling crime drama. Directed by Blake Edwards (The Pink Panther). The film was based on the Micheal Crichton novel A Case of Need. Long before he would thrill readers with The Andromeda Strain and Jurassic Park.

James Coburn does a masterful job in leading a great cast including, Jennifer O'Neill (Rio Lobo), Pat Hinkle (Batman) and James Hong (Big Trouble in Little China).

The Carey Treatment Blu-ray Still

Now while this film is rated PG there is a fair amount of profanity and sexual situations. So parental discretion is strongly advised for this one.

The film has been transferred in 1080p in 2.40:1 aspect ratio with a DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0. There is also English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing.

The Carey Treatment looks pretty impressive in HD on this Blu-ray. The colors are bright and the picture is crisp. The audio is as clear as a bell. This is a very nice looking transfer.

Warner Archive added as a bonus feature the theaterical trailer. A bit on the skimpy side of bonuses, but the beautiful transfer makes up for that.

If you love James Coburn or crime thrillers, The Carey Treatment Blu-ray is going to be one your are going to want to add to your collection. Head over to Amazon and order your copy today.
