When you say Full Moon Pictures or Charles Band probably the first thing that comes to most people's minds would be The Puppet Master franchise. The low budget horror movie series have entertained and frightened audiences for years.
This very popular series all started in 1989 with the first film. Now the original film has been remastered for the best picture and sound quality ever seen by Full Moon Fans.
In 1939 Andre Toulon a puppeteer is on the run from Nazis and hides in a hotel in California. When they arrive he is warned by his puppet Blade. Andre hide his puppets and kill himself before he can tell them the secret how to animate the puppets.
Fast forward 50 Years to 1989. A couple of psychics get a message from their former colleague Neil Gallagher to come to the Bodega Inn in California. They are welcomed by Megan Gallagher, Neil’s wife and owner of the hotel. But she has a much more sinister plan than just an investigation.
Puppet Master is full of that Full Moon atmosphere that fans know and love. The story is entertaining, but at times seems a bit slow. The director is ok and the acting is believable. But where the picture truly shines is in the special effects, which are really great. The puppets are given life by special effects master David Allen, who's work you may have seen in Willow or Batteries Not Included.
The new remastered film is presented in anamorphic widescreen 1.85:1 aspect ratio with 5.1 surround sound. The picture looks pretty impressive with just the slightest blemishes to be found. Most viewers will miss them unless they are looking for them. The colors are vibrant and the picture is crisp.
Included on this DVD with the newly remaster film is some pretty cool bonus features. Take a look at what is included.
