The Fixer: The Power of Balance (2011) {Alpha New Cinema DVD Review}

Reviewed By Jason Lockard

Alpha Home Video under the division Alpha New Cinema have been releasing some very cool independent films. Now I must say I have been really enjoying the opportunity to review these release.

Some of the best have been The Tales of Dracula, The Return of the Devil Bat, Murder in High Heels, and Stellar Quasar and the Scrolls of Dadelia. Now it is time for the next DVD release to get its time to shine and this time it is the 2011 release from director Lee Doll The Fixer: The Power of Balance.

The film follows disgraced former District Attorney William Lawson (Brian St August)  when after a freak accident he get special powers. Now he uses those powers to fix things, thus he is now The Fixer.

The Fixer and his teacher of Ancient Knowledge, Master Zen Martial Artist Yeb-beb (Alfred Guy) are a a teenage girl's only hope of rescue from an Asian gangster.

This is the introduction to the series of films and it really does a good job to introduce the viewer to the characters. For an independent film it is very well shot and the martial arts action is extremely believable. It has a perfect mix of action adventure and just a hint of comedy so the story doesn't get too heavy.

The Fixer has a run time of 54 minutes this is a film that keep the plot moving so there is no time to get bored.

The film has been transferred to DVD in widescreen and 2.0 master audio. The film looks and sounds pretty good for an independent film. But the amazing bonus features included on this disc is where this disc shines. Many great little video features are included take a look at what is on this disc.

* Behind The Scenes of The Fixer

* The Fixer
Music Video - Theme Song By Louanna Lee

* Short Film Steverino: Ace Photographer

* Detective O'Bannon

* Introducing the Fixer

* Still Gallery

Brian St August and Alfred Guy's partnership is like that of the greats, Lone Ranger and Tonto, Green Hornet and Kato, Batman and Robin. Okay, maybe not so much but they are a tremendous duo. I believe that after you witness this first adventure you will be longing for the next one.

You can order The Fixer on DVD now at Oldies.com and if you really love this film you can get an amazing high quality 11" x 17" movie poster here.
