Stellar Quasar and the Scrolls of Dadelia (2016) {Alpha New Cinema DVD Review}

Reviewed By Jason Lockard

Science Fiction films are great forms of entertainment. They transport us from the comfort of our living rooms to other worlds. That is why Star Trek and Star Wars are such popular franchises and still are going strong decades after they debuted.

A. Susan Svehla known for her documentary Fanex Films: Hammer Horror, 2007 Terror of Pharaoh's tomb or the epic 4 part documentary Monster Madness: The Counter Culture to Blockbuster from 2015. Than one year later she would release her B sci-fi film Stellar Quasar and the Scrolls of Dadelia. Now the good folks at Alpha Home Entertainment under the division Alpha New Cinema is giving this film a home DVD release.

Captain Stellar Quasar and the crew of the Aticus Lem agree to transport a passenger on a mysterious quest into the forbidding Uncharted Quadrant. But the strange UQ is not the only danger the crew will meet. They have to avoid a repo ship, the all-powerful Corporation, the crazed cult leader Zoltan, and the ruthless God Squad, all out to beat the Aticus Lem to the UQ and the Scrolls of Dadelia.

Stellar Quasar is a fun ride. It is one of the better new B Sci-fi films I have seen. The film is a good mix of green screen effects, CGI and practical effects. The acting is believable even though the sci-fi action can be cheesy.

The film has been transferred in widescreen format and in Dolby Digital 2.0 audio. The film looks really great on this DVD. The colors are vibrant and the picture is sharp, while the audio is clear as a bell.

Now we have reviewed many DVDs and Blu-ray on this site and many of them are bare bones releases. I am glad to say that is not the case with this one. Alpha New Cinema's DVD release of Stellar Quasar and the Scrolls of Dadelia includes a pretty cool special feature. A 3 Minute video featuring bloopers and promo pics.

I really enjoyed this and I think fans of low budget sci-fi B movies are going to find a lot of enjoyment out of this release. But for films fans looking for the effects found in big blockbuster releases, you are going to be disappointed. This is for B movie fans.
