Alpha New Cinema have been releasing some pretty cool new titles as of late. From horror for faith based to film noir. And I have been loving every second of it. The latest one says it all in the title "Ready for Action."
Ready for Action is a 2015 independent action movie that melds the worlds of The Expendables with the classic show Charlie's Angels. Now if you are not intrigued after that, I don't know what it would take.
When Mr. Reason's daughter goes missing he hires an all-female detective agency to locate her. Sounds simple! Not so much! As a psychotic war veteran seeks revenge against the group of female private eyes. This all leads to a heart-pounding chase on top a condemned building.
Alfred Guy wrote an entertaining script with raw real flawed characters. Also this is a script perfect for this day and age with the female empowerment movement. Baltimore director Lee Doll is at his best with this action adventure with a twist of comedy thrown in for a bonus.
The whole cast is good in their roles, but the ladies really shine here. The film runs at just 1 hour and 20 minutes, so the film is action packed and fast paced and so there is no time to get bored with this one. The only downside is the special effects. The CGI is a tad rough. But for fans of cheesy effects, this is a cheesy good time!
Alpha New Cinema's DVD release is something special. First off the DVD cover is retro it looks totally 70s and totally awesome. The movie is presented in widescreen format and in 2.0 Dolby digital audio. The picture quality is crisp and the audio is clear. It looks great on this DVD. But that's not all! There is a very fun bonus feature. An official music video from the film entitled 'Ready For Action's.
It should be noted that release is a made-on-demand DVD-R recordable media. Almost all DVD players can play DVD-Rs (except for some older models made before 2000). These DVD-Rs may not play on all computers or DVD player/recorders. So be aware of this before hand.
Ready For Action feels like a love letter to the TV classic Charlie's Angels. The action is just what you would expect out of a low budget film. It is cheesy good action. But be aware if you are expecting Charlie's Angels you will be disappointed. That is not what this is supposed to be.
If you would like to add this totally awesome female kick butt film I highly recommend this one. You can add this one to your movie collection by heading over to Oldies.com today.
