It is time to strap yourself in for one wild ride with the new 88 films Blu-ray release of Detonation Violent Riders. This cult exploitation action flick. This film explodes in HD with full Grindhouse grit, biker gang mayhem and over-the-top 1970s violence cinephiles just love.

88 Films have been impressing with so many deluxe Blu-ray releases lately, especially with the addition of the OBI Strips. Of course I am talking about such films as Gates of Flesh, Jakoman and Tetsu and Yakuza Wives. but now it is time for Detonation Violent Riders to receive it's time to shine on physical media.

Synopsis: Iwaki (Koichi Iwaki) is a motorbike mechanic with big dreams of racing professionally. Then temptation arrives in the shapely form of Mayumi (Junko Matsudaira), he wild and free lover of Mitsda (Yusuke Natsu) the leader of the Red Rose Gang, a pack of speed freaks tearing up the town. Iwaki meanwhile has his sights set on the sweet and innocent Michiko (Tomoko Ai), but any potential romance is hampered by her overprotective brother Tsugami (Sonny Chiba) and Mitsuda's bullish plans to make Michiko his trophy. Does Iwaki take the straight and narrow option, or opt for a more dangerous road?

As are many films of the 1970s this film is a really rough and pretty violent. There is a lot of violence towards women, which is abhorrent, but it is something you need to know going into this film. The camera work tracking bike stuns going through traffic is simply stunning. For the product of its time it is a fun little feature.

88 Films have transferred Detonation Violent Riders to Blu-ray in 1080p and is presented in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. The audio track is the original Japanese language track in mono 2.0 with 'New' English Subtitles. 88 Films never ceases to amaze and the quality of their transfers. When you think this film is 50 years old and it looks this nice it is amazing.

88 Films Blu-rays are always super deluxe bringing the cool on disc bonus features and ultra nice artwork. And for this 50th anniversary addition of this film's release on Blu-ray, 88 Films went all out!
