Angel's Descent (2019) {Alpha New Cinema DVD Review}

Johnny Baker Jr. is a retired US postal worker from Philadelphia, Pa.  After 34 years of service, he retired started making films. His latest film was a faith-based drama entitled Angel's Descent.

Johnny Baker Jr. wrote and directed this film and itvwas released in 2019. Now Angel's Descent is getting a DVD release from Alpha New Cinema label of Alpha Home Entertainment. Let's take a look at this film.

The film follows Dr. Micah Bennett who at first looks seems to be a normal psychologist and father, but he is really descended from the Angels, gifted by God with the ability to heal. What an amazing gift, but he has to keep this gift a secret, because there would be people who would try to exploit him and the gift.

When Micah's daughter finds herself in a very bad position, she is given the opportunity out by a demon. She releases the demon into this world. This will lead to an final battle between good and evil. Who will win? You will have to watch the film to find out.

Johnny Baker Jr. has entertainment in his blood as his 2nd cousin is the Hollywood legend Sidney Poitier. When watching this film you can tell Johnny really put a lot of thought into the writing. The dialogue is real and raw. The acting by most is believable. But there are some that seem a bit over the top while others are a bit stiff.

Now for the make-up and special effects. Micah when he uses his gift of healing it looks like a mysterious blue lightning strike. The demon may look a bit cheezy, but it doesn't look bad when you realize this is a small budget film. As a side note the editing is a bit choppy at times in the film.

The DVD release is presents this film in widescreen format and in Dolby Digital 2.0 audio. The picture is clean, but I must be honest hear the audio could be hard to understand at times. That comes from the production not this DVD though. As for bonus features sadly they are non existent. There is no subtitles or trailer.

All in all Angel's Descent is a decent low budget faith-based film. We support local small businesses. I think we should also support independent filmmakers as well! If you would like a copy of this film on DVD-R from Alpha New Cinema you can head over to Oldies.com and order your copy today.
