Tank (1984) {KL Studio Classics Blu-ray Review}

You man know him as Bret Maverick or Jim Rockford on television! Or maybe you know him from his numerous movie roles. However you know him we all know the award winning actor James Garner!

When I think of James Garner I think of my favorite film of his I think of Support your local Sheriff! His laid-back dry humor was on full display. Just like in his series The Rockford Files.

Than in 1984 James Garner going forces with a huge Sherman tank to bring justice to a small town. Kino Lorber Studio Classics is now giving this James Garner cult classic a Blu-ray release for the first time in America.

Tank follows Sergeant-Major Zack Corey (James Gardner) who is finishing up his duties, before his retirement. While in a post in a small southern town he defends the honor of a woman (Jenilee Harrison, Three's Company), who just happens to work as a prostitute. She is forced to this life by the town's evil and corrupt sheriff (G.D. Spradlin). The sheriff wanted to "get" Zack so he uses Zack's son Billy (C. Thomas Howell) by arresting him on a phony drug charge. So now the sergeant is going to so what he must to even the odds. Well maybe not quite even the odds.

Tank is a fun action comedy drama. James Garner's smart aleck humor is on full display in this film. I had a lot of fun watching this film for the first time. It was so much fun I am going to revisit this film again very soon! It is totally rewatchable.

As a quick side note Tank has a lot of adult themes, and adult language. There is also a fair amount of violence. So parents should take caution with this one.



Tank makes it's Blu-ray debut thanks to Kino Lorber. The film has been transferred in 1080p in it's original widescreen format in 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The soundtrack is DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 track. This transfer is a pretty amazing looking one. The film looks pretty impressive. There is a real raw, grittiness to the film that I just loved. There is no signs of damage to this print and the audio is clear.

Kino Lorber's film transfer is amazing enough, but they added some cool special features in this release. Let's tale a look at what is included in this release.

As a fan of James Garner I loved getting to see a film of his I have never seen before. I think James Garner fans are going to love this film. But I will go a step further here. I think film fans in general are going to have fun with this one! It is just a lot of fun!
