The Best of Continental Wrestling Volume 5 {DVD Review}

 Reviewed By Jason Lockard

As a fan of professional wrestling during the Monday Night Wars, I was never able to enjoy many of the classic wrestling for the previous decades. One organization that I never got to witness was one that was headquartered in Tennessee / Alabama Continental Championship Wrestling.

JADAT Sports changed that when they decided to release a 5 volume set of the best of CCW. We reviewed Volume 1  Volume 2 Volume 3 and Volume 4 But now it's time to look at what is included in the final volume of The Best of Continental Wrestling Volume 5.

* TV Featurette: Where's Johnny 'Crash' Rich

* The Nightmares vs. Tommy & Johhny Rich

* The Nightmares vs. Tommy & Johhny Rich

* Tornado Tag Team Title Match
   Tommy & Johnny Rich vs The Nightmares (C)

* Larry Clarke & The Inferno Vs. Tommy &Johnny Rich

* Southeastern Tag Team Elimination Match
    Johnny & Tommy Rich vs. The Nightmares

* Exclusive Ron Fuller Interview (Part 5)

* Bonus footage from Continental Wrestling

As you can see the matches included in this set deals with the feud between The cousins Johnny and Tommy Rich and The Nightmares during the 1986 TV season. The storyline complete with many gimmicks including strappings, chicken suits, tar and featherings is played out.

This volume is very different from the previous four releases this one only deals with two team's feud. But still the one constant is the iconic voice of wrestling in the 80s Gordon Solie.

As for the audio and video. Some matches and segments are more clear than others, but I would call none of them unwatchable. Also the audio volume from one segment to the next changes. And there is some bit if match and segment clipping, but still it's a good snapshot of the fued.

Also included in this volume is the final part of the 5 part interview with Ron Fuller in which he discusses Continental wrestling, his brother Robert, other wrestlers the territory system and much much more.

So if your a classic wrestling fan, or if you already have the first 4 volumes of the best of Continental Wrestling, you know you have own Volume 5!
